30 dated DailyMed eczema-label records checked

Research completed and last verified 22 August 2026. Primary sources: 30. Additional sources: 0. Research type: Drug Facts active-ingredient audit. Hands-on testing performed by HomeWise: No.

Chart showing 26 of 30 eczema Drug Facts labels with colloidal oatmeal and four with hydrocortisone or hydrocortisone acetate
Active classes across 30 DailyMed label records checked August 22, 2026. These counts do not rank treatment effectiveness.

The phrase eczema cream does not identify the Drug Facts active ingredient. The August 22, 2026 audit retained 30 cream, balm, lotion and gel records and normalized active names and displayed percentages. An October 1 review corrected the denominator and clarified a weight/volume conversion without refreshing all 30 sources or making treatment recommendations.

The dated label record: 26 of 30 records were classified as colloidal oatmeal and four as hydrocortisone or hydrocortisone acetate. Among the oatmeal records, 12 had a retained 1% entry and one additional Kyte record supplied 1 g per 100 mL, equal to 1% weight/volume. Other recorded percentages were 2% (eight), 1.5% (three), 0.02% (one) and 5% (one). The four hydrocortisone records had 1% entries. The two bases of expression are kept distinct; these numbers cannot rank clinical effectiveness.

This is an ingredient-label audit, not medical advice and not evidence that one active or strength will work better for a particular person. Product names, inactive ingredients, ages, use limits and warnings still matter.

Names link to the retained DailyMed source identities. Three recorded normalizations used structured fields: NATUHEAL and Baby Eczema Moisturizing Cream had incomplete displayed active text, while Kyte required a 1 g per 100 mL conversion to 1% weight/volume. This is not a conversion to 1% weight/weight; no density was established. The original source record and dataset remain available for provenance.

What the label patterns reveal

Most products in this sample were skin protectants, not steroid treatments

Colloidal oatmeal appeared in 86.7% of the checked records. Hydrocortisone appeared in 13.3%. A front-of-pack eczema phrase cannot tell readers which route they are looking at, so the Drug Facts active line is the fastest reliable discriminator.

Oatmeal percentage was not standardized at one level

Thirteen of 26 oatmeal records, or half that subgroup, had a numerical 1% entry, including the one weight/volume conversion. That is 13 of all 30 records, or 43.3%, not half the entire sample. Thirteen oatmeal records had another recorded percentage. The 0.02% to 5% span describes retained percentage entries, not a standardized concentration or effectiveness ranking.

Similar names can hide different actives and instructions

Several records use generic “eczema relief” wording, and some private-label products resemble brand formulas. Always match the product, labeler, package size and active line. For hydrocortisone products especially, follow age limits, duration limits and warnings on the exact label and seek professional advice when symptoms are severe, infected, widespread or persistent.

How to read an eczema Drug Facts panel

  1. Active ingredient and purpose: identify colloidal oatmeal versus hydrocortisone before reading marketing copy.
  2. Strength: match the percentage on the exact package to the source record.
  3. Uses and warnings: check body-area, age and duration restrictions.
  4. Inactive ingredients: review personal allergens or known triggers separately; this audit does not classify all excipients.
  5. Escalation: do not use a label database as diagnosis or individualized treatment guidance.

For non-prescriptive routine context, see the HomeWise Aveeno Eczema Therapy review, body-lotion guide and barrier-repair guide. Those pages answer product-selection and routine questions; this audit verifies active labels.

HomeWise Research methodology

  • Research completed: 22 August 2026
  • Products/data points checked: 30 eczema-treatment Drug Facts records
  • Primary sources consulted: 30 exact DailyMed labels
  • Additional sources: 0
  • Research type: Drug Facts active-ingredient audit
  • Hands-on testing performed by HomeWise: No
  • Last verified: 22 August 2026

Selection: We searched current DailyMed eczema records and retained 30 creams, balms, gels or lotions with label dates from January through August 2026. We excluded soaps, body washes, shampoos, wipes, homeopathic products and records without colloidal oatmeal or hydrocortisone in the active fields.

Normalization: readable active text controlled when it clearly named an ingredient and percentage. Three records used structured fields for the reasons identified above. Kyte's mass/volume conversion is shown separately rather than assumed equivalent to a mass/mass percentage. Classes and numeric entries are counted without inferring product or clinical equivalence. On October 1, six current DailyMed bodies were checked: NATUHEAL, Baby Eczema Moisturizing Cream, Kyte, Gladskin, Aveeno Nighttime and the CVS-labeler record. Source bodies and names can be revised; the other 24 records have not been refreshed and the original full-dataset date is not advanced.

Limitations: DailyMed is not a diagnosis, treatment recommendation or retail-stock service. Records can be revised, and similarly named products can differ. The purposive sample includes national brands, store labels and smaller labelers and is not a market-share estimate. We did not buy, apply, smell, patch-test or clinically assess any product, and we did not audit every inactive ingredient.
